OCLC Library Technical Services (LTS) provides cataloging and finishing services, whether in the form of finite projects, or of long-term ongoing provision of service for the majority of the library's acquisitions, purchased or donated. Using the breadth and depth of resources available in WorldCat, LTS custom edits records to each library's specifications. Where no record is available, OCLC LTS produces high-quality original cataloguing of library materials, in many languages and all formats.

 

Our core service is the original and copy cataloguing, plus physical processing, of library materials in many languages and virtually all formats. Other services we have provided include retrospective conversion, indexing, and onsite consulting as well as custom programming for machine-matching projects.  We are currently seeking two Contract Processors at our Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada office.

 

Contract duration:                 4-months

Rate of pay:                           $12.00 per hour

 

Under the supervision of the Production Manager, Processing/Shipping; performs physical processing of library materials in accordance with customer specifications.  Processes library materials by:

 

·        Generating spine labels

·        Completing physical processing of library materials; these operations typically include inserting security strips, property stamping, affixing spine and other labels, etc.

·        May also include unpacking, barcoding to customer specifications, and recording incoming material

 

Qualifications

 

  • High school graduate
  • Piece work experience in a production environment an asset
  • Manual dexterity
  • Attentiveness to detail
  • Ability to work with others as part of a team
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Excellent keyboarding skills an asset
