Electronic Resources Librarian
The University of Manitoba Libraries seeks a dynamic, highly-motivated person for the position of Electronic Resources Librarian at a General Librarian rank to begin December 1, 2010,
or as soon as possible thereafter. This position normally has a two
year probationary period and the salary is commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
• A Master’s degree in library and/or information studies from an ALA accredited or equivalent institution;
• Ability to manage a complex workload in a timely, effective manner;
• Knowledge and understanding of best practices, current issues, and
trends in electronic resources management in academic libraries;
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
Candidates with the following qualifications will be preferred:
• At least 2 years’ professional library experience;
• Experience with OpenURL resolvers such as SFX and electronic resource management systems such as Verde.
• Experience successfully reviewing and negotiating licenses for electronic resources.
• Experience providing statistical analysis regarding collections, resource usage and expenditures.
• Knowledge and understanding of current trends in cataloguing electronic resources.
Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, the Electronic Resources
Librarian is responsible for managing the provision of access to the
Libraries’ electronic resources, reviewing and negotiating license
agreements, responding to offers of new resources and overseeing and
providing analysis of e-resource trials. A more detailed position
