ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION

Graduation from a recognized university with a master’s degree in library science, or in library and information science; OR graduation from a recognized university with a bachelor’s degree in library science, or in library and information science, for which another bachelor’s degree was a prerequisite.

ASSET QUALIFICATION:

University degree in a scientific or agricultural field.

Experience

Note: In lieu of a covering letter, candidates will be required to complete the on-line application questions regarding experience. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet the experience factors listed in the essential and asset qualifications.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in providing library and information services in a special library, research or post-secondary academic environment;
Experience in providing in-depth reference services including database searching services for clients;
Experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures;
Experience in providing strategic advice on planning, acquisition, life cycle management and disposal of library/information holdings and systems;
Experience in supervising human and financial resources.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in providing library and information services to a scientific clientele;
Experience in supervising personnel;
Experience in conducting library orientation and training sessions;
Experience in web design and HTML;

Statement of Merit Criteria

Challenge

• Plan, develop and manage the financial, human and physical resources of the Canadian Grain Commission’s Corporate Library located at the Winnipeg headquarters;
• Develop, evaluate and modify the procedures and services of the library based on client and organizational needs;
• Provide reference, information research, cataloguing, current awareness and document delivery services to Canadian Grain Commission employees;
• Provide training to clients, promote library services, and advise clients on use of information resources;
• Provide copyright advice to CGC staff and grant permissions to external clients;
• Participate as a member of departmental, inter departmental and project teams, as required.
