Vice-President

Time Commitment: 1-year term (3 years total from Vice-President to Past President); approx. 10 hours per month

The Vice-President supports the President in providing governance leadership to the Board and prepares to transition into the President role. The Vice-President assists with Board priorities and may assume responsibilities as delegated by the President.

The role requires good communication, sound judgment, and commitment to the mission and vision of the association.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supports the President in fulfilling governance responsibilities.
  • Chairs meetings in the absence of the President.
  • Chairs the Awards and Scholarships Committee if the Past President role is vacant
  • Assists with strategic planning and Board goal setting.
  • Supports Board recruitment and nominations processes.
  • Runs Board nominations at the Annual General Meeting.
  • Assumes President responsibilities if the position becomes vacant.
  • Represents MLA in the absence of the President.
  • Orients and supports the incoming Vice-President.
  • May be designated as a financial signing authority
