The Manitoba Accessibility Office and Manitoba Employment Equity Practitioners Association are pleased to be co-hosting a free virtual webinar “IDPD 2022: United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities” on Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 2:00 to 3:30 pm, via Zoom Platform.

The webinar will begin with an overview of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities provided by Steven Estey, who is a leading Canadian expert on the Convention. Mr. Estey has advanced disability rights for over three decades through his work with disability and human rights organizations, government, and United Nations agencies.
Mr. Estey’s overview will set the stage for a panel discussion about the significance of the Convention to Manitoba, with a focus on areas of concern to our panelists:

- Justine Kiwanuka
- Mary Lavigne
- Carrie Pacey
Topics will include accessibility, employment, healthcare, and equal representation before the law.
The panelists’ diverse experience includes living with visible and invisible disabilities, alongside their unique perspectives as women of settler, immigrant, Métis and Indigenous roots.
