This award recognizes a Library Technician in Manitoba who has demonstrated outstanding professional achievement or leadership in their library or in the library community at a local, regional, provincial or national level. A nominee must be a graduate of a recognized Library Technician program.

Library Support Worker of the Year Award

This award recognizes a library support staff member who has demonstrated outstanding professional achievement or leadership in their library or in the library community at a local, regional, provincial or national level. The individual must be currently working in a library without holding a Library Technician Diploma or Master of Library Science.

Library Service Award

This award recognizes people who have made a significant contribution to the operation and development of libraries and library services in the province of Manitoba. The Library Service Awards are sponsored by the Manitoba Library Endowment Fund as part of the Fund’s work in encouraging excellence in Manitoba libraries. This Fund is administered through the Manitoba Library Association. Nominations celebrating the following are encouraged:

  • Professional library workers in Manitoba who have shown exemplary service over a long period or who have shown a contribution within a shorter period.
  • Volunteers who have shown a significant contribution to the operation or development of library services in Manitoba, perhaps as a trustee, fund-raiser, or volunteer worker.
  • Rising stars or individuals in Manitoba who have shown exceptional promise of leadership in the early years of their career through the contributions they have made to their library or to the profession.

Library Trustee of Distinction Award

The Trustee of Distinction Award recognizes outstanding participation in the advancement of public library trusteeship in Manitoba. Consideration is given to trustees who have demonstrated leadership, innovation, promotion of public libraries in their community and fostered education and development of Trustees. Red River College Library & Information Technology Student Award

This award is presented to a first-year student with the highest grades in library-related courses in the Red River College Library and Information Technology program. Selection is done by Instructors in the RRC LIT Program. The Scholarship and Awards Committee does not select the winner, though the award winner may be celebrated in news and ceremonies, or related celebrations, for all award winners.

This award is presented to a library technician who shows exceptional promise of leadership and has made a contribution to their library or to the profession. The individual must be a library technician who has graduated from a recognized program within the last 6 years.

This award identifies and celebrates people or groups who, through innovative thinking, have created or demonstrated improvements in library services.
