CULC/CBUC Think Tank Survey

We have received a special invitation from the CULC/CBUC Think Tank on Recovery and Reimagined Library Services Post COVID-19 to complete a survey.

The Think Tank is looking for input from senior management, staff, vendors, and those connected to the public library community. The goal is for a final report on May 21st

DEADLINE:  Survey will be left open, but the data will start analysis on May 8th. Please contribute by then.

Call for Nominations – Manitoba Library Association Board Positions

Being a member of the MLA Board provides excellent opportunities to:

  • meet and network with others in the community,
  • gain valuable skills,
  • build your professional portfolio, and
  • contribute to your profession.

The Manitoba Library Association welcomes nominations for the following positions on the Board:

Vice President

President

Secretary

Membership Director

Director at Large – Advocacy

Director at Large – Professional Development

Communications Director

Library Technicians Division Chair

Position descriptions are available online.  Additional information on position responsibilities, expectations or benefits of serving on the Board is available by emailing president@mla.mb.ca.

Nomination Process:

You may nominate someone who is willing to stand as a candidate for an above position, or you may nominate yourself. Please send an email to president@mla.mb.ca and include:

  • Name of nominee
  • Contact information of nominee

Nominations close May 22, 2020.

Election Process:

Elections will take place at the Association’s Annual General Meeting on June 2, 2020.  The roster of nominees will be presented to members and there will be a call for additional nominations from those present at the meeting.  Voting will take place after which the Association’s members will accept the slate of new Board members.

Province of Manitoba Declares State of Emergency

Premier Brian Pallister has declared a state of emergency in response to the rise of COVID-19 in the province.

For additional information regarding COVID-19 in Manitoba, please see the Province’s COVID-19 website. Information is updated regularly, including the number of probable and confirmed cases, videos of news conferences, as well as links to the Public Health Agency of Canada’s website and the World Health Organization’s situation report.

The Nominations Committee of MLA is currently seeking submissions for committed library leaders to join its Board. Available positions for 2019 include:

President (1 year)

Trustees Division Representative (1 year)

Technicians Division Representative (1 year)

Communications Director (2 years)

Director at Large (Advocacy) (2 years)

Secretary (2 years)

Nominations, including a brief description of your suitability, should be submitted by May 25, 2019, to president@mla.mb.ca. Elections will be held at the MLA Annual General Meeting on Monday, June 3, 2019.
